About the conference
The scientific conference of the Latvian National Museum of Literature and Music “Acts. Facts. Artefacts” is a platform for fostering academic exchange dedicated to current issues in museology and the study of museum collections.
This year’s theme — The Museum in Collaboration: Professional Practice and Co-created Heritage — invites museums to be understood as spaces of relationship, of knowledge transformation grounded in shared ethical responsibility, and of the collective construction of meaning. Turning to the role of the museum in present and future society, the conference will open a conversation about how professional museum practice is shifting in a world increasingly shaped by digital tools, information overload, growing social polarisation, and fragile public trust. How do we sustain responsibility towards heritage, and how does the museum remain relevant in a society where both information habits and patterns of participation are in flux?

The Latvian National Museum of Literature and Music has been organizing the annual conference “Acts. Facts. Artefacts” since 2023.Conference objectives:
- To stimulate discussion on current issues and outline the latest trends in museology;
- To promote cooperation and exchange of experience among cultural heritage and research institutions in Latvia and internationally;
- To promote the collection of the Latvian National Museum of Literature and Music, its diversity, research potential, and significance in cultural heritage;
- To highlight the stories of objects in museum collections, drawing attention to musical instrument collections;
- To emphasize the importance of museums in broader society.
